Telstra Services – Council is thrilled to announce Aurukun is back online after Telstra service was restored just after midday today. With phone coverage restored, ATMs across community are once again functioning, as is the terminal at the fuel bowsers.
They say teamwork makes the dream work, and that was certainly the case as Council staff – including Gavin, Aelan and Brian, as well as our Infrastructure Services General Manager Dominic – worked tirelessly over the past few days alongside Telstra crews to get community reconnected as quickly as humanly possible.
On behalf of the Aurukun community, Council would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who helped restore services after Tropical Cyclone Narelle’s visit, especially crews from Telstra and Ergon Energy Network.
With power and telecommunications now fully restored, the Aurukun Local Disaster Management Group has moved to Stand Down status.
