POWER
Ergon Energy Network crews – including Trent Thompson, Mick Brett, Matty Baillie and Dugan Crothers – have completed the restoration of power across community.
PHONES
Telstra service is yet to be restored. The fault location with the optic fibre network is approximately 100 kilometres from Aurukun and currently under water, so Council is working with Telstra management and crews on the ground to restore connectivity as soon as practicable. At this stage, service may not be restored until Friday, and we ask community to remain patient as Telstra works to fix a problem made more difficult by the Cape York wet season.
FOOD RESUPPLY
Aurukun’s food security remains good apart from fresh produce, and the Island & Cape supermarket continues to trade. Sea Swift is scheduled to reach Aurukun at 6am on Sunday.
CHILDCARE
The Koolkan Early Childhood Centre will remain closed until Telstra service is restored.
FLIGHTS
Residents needing to book Skytrans Australia flights can do so with cash only transactions at the Aurukun Council office until Telstra service is restored. For urgent flight bookings for Aurukun residents by card, please see Estella or Cara in the Aurukun office, and they will liaise with our Cairns team to complete the booking.
