07 November 2024 Update:

  • Council and Culturev8 would like to thank those in our community who volunteered their time to fill out surveys to go towards the development of the Community Safety Plan (CSP).
  • The surveys closed on 31 October 2024 and more than 100 community responses to the surveys were received.
  • The 10 winners of the Island & Cape Vouchers have been randomly selected, and will be contacted to collect their prize
  • The information gathered through the surveys will help shape the actions required to improve community safety and guide Council goals over the coming years.
  • The next step in this process is to undertake an analysis of the collected data, helping us to guide the development of our new CSP due for adoption in early 2025.
  • For further information contact Council’s Community Development officer

10 September 2024:
Aurukun Shire Council is seeking community feedback to develop Aurukun’s new Community Safety Plan. There are separate surveys for residents and stakeholders to ensure we capture all opinions. Residents who complete a survey can go into the draw to win one of 10 $100 Island and Cape Vouchers.

Pop up stalls will be held in community on 17-19 September where an Aurukun Shire Council team member can help you complete the survey.

This document will replace the 2021 Community Safety Plan which is on the Council website. Submissions close 31 October 2024.

Contact Community Development Officer Nerissa Carter to discuss this project at cdo@aurukun.qld.gov.au or call 0439 573 587.

Residents

Residents can participate in any of the five surveys below that interest them.

Stakeholders

If you are an agency or stakeholder working in the Aurukun community, you can share your thoughts and help shape the future of community safety in Aurukun by completing the Stakeholder Survey. The 20-minute survey should be completed by staff with direct experience and knowledge working with and in Aurukun.

The consultant conducting the review, culturev8, may contact your nominated staff member to arrange a 30-minute follow-up interview to deep-dive into some of your answers to better understand your responses. Your organisation’s timely survey submission would be greatly appreciated and will contribute to building a safer Aurukun.
