Great Australian Bites Aurukun

Saturday 31 January 2026  5pm – 10pm

Great Australian Bites in Aurukun will bring together the local community to celebrate Australia Day with a vibrant showcase of food, music and culture for everyone to enjoy.

The free event will be held at Wo’uw Ko’alam Community Centre (524 McKenzie Drive, Aurukun) from 5pm to 10pm on Saturday 31 January 2026.

Tess Fapani, an inspiring Australian singer-songwriter from Cape York in Far North Queensland will be taking centre stage to perform live at the event. Having grown up in Aboriginal communities, Tess feels a strong connection to the First Nations people of Australia and a passion for community-based music experiences. Her warm and earthy storytelling and soulful vocal presence create an intimate connection with audiences.

Great Australian Bites Aurukun will be an inclusive and family-friendly event with regional food delights on offer from local vendors and fun children’s activities. Uncle Barry Watson of the Wergaia people of Western Australia will also be attending as an Australia Day Ambassador to present the Australia Day Citizenship Awards.
