by | Nov 3, 2014 | Uncategorized

A group of Aurukun artists are on Badu Island to learn skills in metal casting. This is an exciting development in enhancing the ability and skills of our local artists in new media. The art world is already familiar with carvings from Aurukun made of traditional materials such as wood and using metal will create even more interest in the special works from Aurukun.

The Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs Senator the Hon. Nigel Scullion dropped by to speak to the artists group and the Aurukun Shire Council Art Centre Manager Dev Lengjel about their project. The Minister was very excited to see their progress in this special art project.
